A grand evening gala, attended by some of the regions best performance groups and pop stars was held on Monday in Hong Kong, to mark this year's National Day.

Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday that the party organised at the Hong Kong Coliseum featured performances by the PLA Hong Kong Garrison , Hong Kong's five disciplinary services, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, the Hong Kong Dance Company, the Hong Kong Children's Choir and local pop singers Andy Hui and Joey Yung.

Tung Chee Hwa, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference also attended the show and delivered a speech at the beginning.

An audience of more than 6,000 Hong Kong celebrities and citizens enjoyed the splendid performances.
